Many people feel as though it’s necessary to select antique iron beds that are all scrolled and fancy. Well if that’s were your taste falls and the setting delegates such a design…… that’s fine. But the collectability of an iron beds isn’t totally determined by curves, scrolls and “fancy”. As can be seen from this bed….the four poster effect and beautifully detailed castings are really what can elevate the visual importance of any bed.
You can see from the “after King conversion” photo where we’ve added additional castings that were poured in our foundry. Once this bed was painted, as you can see, it becomes impossible to tell what was added and what was the original.
Straighter designed beds can be as impressive in a room as those that have all the “bells & whistles”. Take a look through our website cathousebeds.com and I think you’ll find that many of the more attractive bed photo’s are straighter line beds not fancy beds.
