You want to be as romantic as possible for Valentines Day for your wife, girlfriend, husband, boyfriend or significant other, you want to let them know just how unique they really are to you. There’s a pretty good likelihood, with the economy the way it is, a five carat diamond from Tiffany’s or a new Mercedes isn’t on the top of your list of possible Valentines Day presents.
Well if not a high ticket item that you’d like to be able to get…… then what?
OK…….Lets give this some thought. The particular person you’re with, hopefully is with you mainly because of who your are and not what you have or what you’re going to be giving them on Valentines Day. If they aren’t………. stop stressing and start hunting for a new partner in life. Valentines Day is about being loved………People show love in quite a few different ways.
Some people show love with ostentatious gifts or trips. Sure we’d all love to be in a place to do that. But not all of us are fortunate enough to have the means with which to do those things. So lets be sensible and put some real thought into what would make our other half consider how special they are to us. Here are a couple of of my personal favorites. They all start with listening and knowing what makes your partner happy. What places a smile on their face. It may not be your cup of tea…….but remember, we’re talking about what they like …not you. Here’s where you’re turning the corner and are about to make them feel really special. What is that one thing that when they bring it up, you’re not really on the same page. Something that would be way far down on your list , but uptoward the top of theirs. This unselfish act will mean more than anything.
Maybe your partner likes window shopping, something you’d rather stick pencils in your eyes before compromising with. Well take into account this…….it’s one day. How much enjoyment has this person brought into your life. I think you’ll agree, it’s far more than one day of doing something to satisfy them.
What about taking them to a museum. If your partners a man and he likes cars….find a car museum. There usually seems to be car displays touring the country. Maybe your other half likes vintage clothes and you can find a vintage clothing show at one of the museums.
Dinner is always nice. But make sure it’s a restaurant he or she really likes. On a budget….OK…….what kind of food do they like? You’re seeing this on the Internet…….do a search for the recipe of their favorite food and cook them dinner or breakfast. It’s not rocket science and remember…….it’s the thought that counts. That you took the time to make them a meal, will mean a lot.
Here’s one of the more thoughtful things you can start the day out with. Be the first to get up in the morning. Does your partner drink coffee……. well brew some fresh coffee. Orange juice…….get some fresh squeezed the night before. Toast , bagels, English muffin etc. etc. Now go pick some flowers…….Unless you live in Alaska around Valentines Day, you’re likely to find flowers growing somewhere. It doesn’t take a lot to make a statement in a little vase on a tray with the coffee and bagel.
My significant other liked antiquing and although I did to, we never seemed to take the time to do it together. She’d always liked old antique iron beds, like she’d observed in a movie. We’d looked at iron beds over the years but the search had hit a wall when we couldn’t agree on a particular one. So maybe here’s where a little compromise could make a Valentines Day quite special. There’s a lot of mileage in finally agreeing to something you’ve adamantly disagreed with over a period of time. It’s also going to make you feel really good when you see how much it meant to your partner.
Keep in mind ……. the best present you can give someone is a piece of yourself. Taking the time and making the effort to let them know you listen to what they like and want to show them you’re aware of it, will be the best present you could ever give.
