A number of years ago I received a call from a “stylist” who said she was in need of a iron bed for an advertisement in a log cabin setting. She wanted something we could convert to king size and she wanted it distinctive yet not overpowering. Her concern was that the bed not detract from the items her client was trying to sell……primarily blankets, pillows etc. She was also concerned that whatever bed she selected look appropriate in a log cabin. So scrolled Victorian designs were out. A straighter more tailored bed was the most important element in the design. She also wanted oversized tubing so the conversion to king size would have a very natural and proportional look to it. I had close to 600 iron beds in my inventory at the time and I think each one got a look. She finally settled on the bed in the photo. As you can see…….all of her criteria were met and the final product shot for Pendelton Mills Blankets looked great. They used it in print ads a couple of TV commercials and also in the Catalog. It received a tremendous amount of exposure. It certainly wasn’t the fanciest antique iron beds I’ve ever had shot for an ad campaign or TV, Movie feature. But it certainly received more exposure than just about any I’ve ever had.
