The thought around canopy iron beds is that they are feminine and only for little girls rooms. This couldn’t be farther from reality.
Here is an bed I did for a physical trainer, who was about as masculine as they come. He specifically wanted a 2″ diameter bed that we could convert to king and canopy. Beds that have straighter lines lend themselves beautifully to canopy conversion and king conversion.
Antique iron beds with curved scrolls etc. also convert nicely to canopy and are what most of my customers are looking for.
But it’s the straighter more masculine beds I seem to be getting a lot of requests for canopy conversions lately. These style beds tend to go into more modern settings with far fewer fancy Victorian antiques than the scrolled styles most people come to me for.
Try and think outside the box when considering a canopy conversion. It can be as masculine or feminine as you want.
