So how is that iron beds took over the reins of popularity from the once popular brass bed? Simple…….What color is brass? Right……. a yellowish gold. Does it go with everything? Absolutely not. Hence, iron beds have given the designer in all of us the ability to either paint them the sam color as their surroundings or just blend them with the decor. Either way iron beds can work in any setting and with any color scheme. I’ve put a number of photo’s on this page of iron beds that our customers have sent us thing to match or blend the finish with. In so
me instances you’ll see that we did an absolute match to a particular color. In other instances you’ll see that after buying the iron bed from us the new owner selected linens or curtain material and asked that we make sure the “antique faux’ finish” they selected would blend with the bed. Brass beds could never achieve this level of flexibility in decorating and one of the reasons you see very few brass beds any more. Iron beds have eclipsed every level of popularity brass beds ever experienced and then some. Also …….. the diversity of designs , of iron beds ,make them much more adaptable for different period such as Art Nouveau, Victorian, Craftsman, Art Deco etc. etc.
