Few specific request have I had more than that for my beds for log cabin settings.
Although most log cabins “didn’t” have iron beds in them. The plainer Austere style antique iron beds look beautiful in them.
Most people go for the plainer style beds over the scrolled Victorian styles. But the thing that can make a scrolled fancy bed look more appropriate in a log home is the “finish” you select for it. I white Shabby Chic finish isn’t going to cut it. But a warm earth tone, black or gold distressed finish will look great.
Having built two log cabins, and having put Cathouse beds in to both of them, I have a real good feel for what looks good and appropriate. Our cabin was shot a number of times for Log Home Magazines. Because of those photo shoots I got more calls for beds than just about any publicity we’d ever received.
Best of luck finding an bed for your log home. Consider this…… the principal of “green living” is no more prevalent than in a log home. And there’s nothing more “green”, than an antique bed.
