What's Your Favorite Piece of Furniture?

You know …….. the one that instantly turns a new place into my home when it is set up. For me it’s always been my iron bed. As soon as I set it up, I start feeling like I’m in “my place. My iron bed has always given me that secure feeling that’s suppose to be associated with home.

I think my mom’s piece is the massive farmhouse table we all used to sit around for dinners when we were kids. My grandmother’s is a big old hutch that holds her collection of white china.But mine has always been my iron bed. Seriously, though, that iron bed, which is over two hundred years old, is the piece.

Throughout the last 41 years, the iron bed I’ve had has changed numerous times. I’ve gone from extremely ornate Victorian iron beds, to incredibly straight and Austere/Craftsman style iron beds. I also started collecting unique iron beds over thirty years ago and at one time had over 30 iron beds that I’d change out as the whim would hit me. I’ve always felt an iron bed reflected a persons personality and general overall mood.
